And spent 2 weeks in Rome. Where, of course, the coffee is just better. This cappuccino (made to perfection by Luigi, our fav barista) from Arcconi, a small nothing cafe near Vill’Ada in the non-touristy part of Rome (where people actually live) is simply the best ever made (caveat: maybe better can be found in Naples)…
Searching and searching for good coffee here… My favorite so far is La Colombe (on Lafayette Street). It tastes most like coffee in Italy. But otherwise… I’m at a loss. Why are all coffee shops so precious? Why can’t you get anything to eat other than just a donut or a sickly sweet pastry or two? At Arcconi you can buy sandwiches, coffee, booze, gum, cake, ice cream, groceries, a real Italian bar bar. Il Buco Alimentari approaches the ideal. Because you can get good coffee and groceries. But they are practically in Italy anyway… (just closer).
